Course overview
This intensive workshop combines short demonstrations with guided exercises in a realistic JEM environment. Participants progress from a clear event structure to advanced configurations that remain maintainable for editors and administrators.
Learning outcomes
- Design event, category and venue structures for a university or multi-department organisation.
- Configure registration limits, waiting lists and publication workflows.
- Use category-selected JEM fields to present consistent course information.
- Plan recurring and multi-day events without duplicating content unnecessarily.
- Present complex information clearly in frontend event and venue pages.
Programme
Day 1: information architecture, categories, venues, permissions, registration and editorial workflows.
Day 2: JEM fields, modules, calendar presentation, testing and release-ready event checklists.
What to bring
Bring a laptop with a current browser. A training site and all practical files are provided. No programming experience is required, although Joomla administration experience is recommended.

The main room provides movable workstations, projection, Wi-Fi and step-free access. Breakout areas are available for practical design sessions.
